Making dreams come true since 1947
Every good story starts with a dream.
After serving as a mechanic and shipwright in Norfolk, VA, John Frank Miller was seriously injured in a car crash while coming home from work. Unable to perform his duties in the shipyards of Norfolk, Frank dreamed of a new career where he could put his love of mechanical tinkering into use to provide for his family as well as serve those in his community. In 1947, he received his certification in watchmaking from the watchmaker's school in Spencer, NC. After graduation, Frank began the first iteration of what would become Frank's Jewelry in Graham, NC as a watch repairman in the back of a local shoe store. As business began to pick up, Frank moved out of the shoe store and into the location at 202 North Main Street - where the business remains to this day. For over 30 years, Frank and his wife Ruth operated the store with the help of family and countless other staff.
In the late 1970s to 1980s, Gale Miller (Frank's second of three sons) returned to the business after attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Elon College. After Frank's passing in 1993, Gale and his wife Debbi continued the tradition of providing exceptional customer service while delivering quality, hand picked fine jewelry and timepieces to make every occassion special for their customers.
In late 2013, after graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and working for a while in commercial banking, Adam Miller (the oldest son of Debbi and Gale Miller) returned to the business much like his father. Adam began to take on more responsibilities at the store when his mother, Debbi, passed away from complications due to cancer. For about 10 years Gale and Adam continued to operate the business as father and son, continuing Frank's legacy of craftsmanship and service.
In December 2023, Adam Miller became the third generation to run the family business after Gale unexpectedly passed away. He looks forward to carrying on the dream that Frank Miller started back in 1947 - of helping our customers tell the story of their life through quality jewelry and watches and incredible customer service.
